The representative
of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and board members of Tabriz Petrochemical Company
announced in a meeting that only the workers with at least a high school degree
and 10 years of experience will receive direct contracts with the NPC.
Consequently, only
about 550 workers will be eligible for signing direct contracts with NPC and
more than 1100 workers will remain in the hands of contracting companies.
The National
Petrochemical Company is a subsidiary to the Iranian Petroleum Ministry,

To force the
Tabriz Petrochemical management to eliminate contracting companies more than
1400 Tabriz Petrochemical contract workers' went on a 11 days on March 7, 2011. They demanded
the conversion of temporary contracts into direct contracts with the company.
